"The Effect of Brain Bootcamp on Smartness." Jack Penland. December 31, 2008. sciencecentral.com.
Over the years many people have had to remember phone numbers and passwords, but who would have thought that remembering the letters and numbers could actually make smarter? Well that was an experiment performed at the University of Michigan. They created these brain excersises where the person would have to remember colored squares and match them with ones previously seen and also letters and numbers. After doing so 40% of the volunteers got smarter. This was not permanent though. The IV is whether or not the person went to the bootcamp and the DV was if they got smarter or not. This experiment could be improved by testing a broader range of age groups. As a follow-up experiment I would suggest to try this with different ethnic groups.
